Baskerville Hall, Hay-on-Wye

Hey from Hay where the Arlet Trio (+ Sam merch-manager-extraordinaire) have enjoyed a glorious couple of days performing as part of the Hay Festival’s Fair on the Square fringe activities.

Huge thanks to Pete and Alison for having us – we loved playing with the other fantastic acts over the weekend and can’t believe so many highlights were crammed into only two days

1) Our temporary home was the imposing Baskerville Hall, perhaps where Conan Doyle was inspired to write The Adventure of the Engineer’s Thumb The Hounds of the Baskervilles, and also an impressive challenger to the laws of physics, with one of the largest houses we’ve ever seen containing the world’s tiniest double-bunk dormitory

2) We joined the huge queues for our own Aidan Shepherd’s namesake ice-cream (and also their very convenient toilet facilities, cheers)

3) We danced our cares away at the Menagerie at The Castle helped along by Mexican lemonade

4) Most importantly we were very lucky to play to brilliant audiences, helped along by Pete’s skills on the desk, by a long way the best sound we’ve had

5) We can just about get away with saying we launched our first book (well, album book), at a literary festival

6) Sam’s surname is Hayes, we were in Hay, he went to Hereford by mistake, Hayes-on-Where

7) Owen had a really good pierogi, I waited 45 minutes for pasta – it was okay
